Hit and run fatalities have been on the rise in the United States. Every year over 1,000 people are killed in hit and run accidents. In Texas, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury is a third-degree felony, punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison. Texas law requires a driver that is in an accident to provide identification and insurance information and render aid to anyone that is injured.
