Lawsuit Resolved for Victim Catastrophically Injured by Dog Bite

The O’Hara Law Firm is proud to announce the successful resolution of lawsuit filed on behalf of a woman who was severely injured by a dog. The dog escaped through a hole in a fence that was not properly maintained by the homeowners association. The dog attacked Plaintiff, fractured her arm and caused permanent nerve damage. Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) developed as a result of the injury. CRPS is known to be extremely painful. A widely accepted pain index considers CRPS more painful than childbirth and amputation.

The Plaintiff underwent several surgeries in an attempt to reduce the pain in her arm. Her medical bills for her treatment totaled nearly $200,000, and medical experts predicted that her future medical bills would total approximately $1,000,000. Plaintiff sued the dog owner, HOA and management company hired by the HOA. The case was resolved with all three defendants.

Depending upon the circumstances surrounding a dog attack, other entities and people may share responsibility for the attack with the dog owner. Landlords, property owners, homeowner associations and management companies at times may contribute to an injury by not fulfilling obligations to the dog owner or victim of the attack.
