Excerpt from an announcement of the Texas Bar Foundation
Mr. Patrick O’Hara with the O’Hara Law Firm has been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout the state of Texas. The election is a mark of distinction and recognition of Mr. O’Hara’s contributions to the legal profession.
Selection as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas. Each year the top one-third of one percent of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows. Once nominees are selected, they must be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Membership has grown from an initial 255 Charter Members in 1965 to more than 9,500 Fellows throughout Texas today.
The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country. Founded in 1965 by lawyers determined to assist the public and improve the profession of law, the Texas Bar Foundation has maintained its mission of using the financial contributions of its membership to build a strong justice system for all Texans. To date, the Texas Bar Foundation has distributed more than $19 million throughout Texas to assist nonprofit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services. O’Hara Law Firm Practice
The O’Hara Law Firm prides itself in representing people who have been seriously injured by the negligence of others. At trial, Patrick O’Hara has represented widows and family members who lost loved ones as a result of companies placing profits over safety. Unlike some law firms that will accept any settlement offer from the insurance company, Mr. O’Hara will litigate and take a case to trial to obtain just results for clients. Many of the O’Hara Law Firm’s clients come from word of mouth and referrals from other lawyers. These lawyers refer clients to the O’Hara Law Firm because they trust that the firm will push for the best result possible for each and every client.
Patrick O’Hara is licensed in the states of Texas, California, and Louisiana. Mr. O’Hara has taken cases to trial in Texas, California, Louisiana, West Virginia, and New York. He also represented a small oil company at arbitration in London. Patrick O’Hara is routinely hired by other law firms to serve as lead trial counsel when their cases do not settle. Last year, while serving as lead trial counsel on a case for another law firm, Patrick O’Hara obtained the second-highest verdict in Texas for a Deceptive Trade Practice Act case for that year. The defendant’s insurance company offered $12,500 before the trial. The jury awarded $191,000 in damages and attorneys’ fees.
Patrick O’Hara has also been recognized by organizations such as Super Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys, Houstonia Magazine, and AVVO.
